Client Overview

Our client is a privately held, Florida-based organization operating in the manufacturing, distribution, and equipment rental space. They are now looking for a Tax Specialist to support their finance and tax functions during a major ERP transition.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$30/hr - $35/hr

Position Overview

The Tax Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the organization during the transition to a new ERP system, with a primary focus on auditing tax data, processes, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This role requires strong multistate tax expertise, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to collaborate with tax, accounting, IT, and external stakeholders throughout the ERP implementation.

Responsibilities

Of The Tax Specialist
  • Audit tax data, configurations, and workflows during the ERP transition to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Validate tax logic, mappings, and calculations for multistate tax requirements within the ERP.
  • Review and reconcile tax data between legacy systems and the new ERP to identify discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper setup and compliance for multistate tax filings, including sales & use, income, franchise, and other applicable taxes.
  • Partner with IT, accounting, and external consultants to address tax-related system issues and process gaps.
  • Develop and document tax processes, controls, and procedures related to the ERP implementation.
  • Identify tax risks, control weaknesses, and compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with ongoing tax reporting, reconciliations, and filings during and after system conversion.
  • Provide audit support and documentation for internal and external tax audits related to the system transition.
Required Experience/Skills for the Tax Specialist
  • Strong multistate tax experience, including sales & use, income, and other state and local taxes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and large data set analysis.
  • Ability to reconcile tax data between systems and identify discrepancies and control gaps.
Preferred Experience /Skills for the Tax Specialist
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a tax-focused role in a multi-entity environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with the Baseplan ERP system.
Education Requirements
  • Associate degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
