The Assurance Senior will be responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day "in‑charge" duties of planning, fieldwork and "wrap‑up" to include the preparing of financial statements with disclosures, applying most areas of GAAP as necessary and documenting, validating, testing and assessing various control systems. This position is also responsible for acting as the client contact for basic questions and information and may be involved in reviews and agreed‑upon procedure engagements.

Job Duties
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day audit planning, fieldwork and wrap‑up for engagement teams.
  • Prepare financial statements with disclosures, applying GAAP and documenting control system assessments.
  • Act as the client contact for basic questions and information.
  • Maintain quality and compliance with engagement standards.
  • Apply knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations and PCAOB guidelines to audit work.
  • Use BDO audit manuals and tools; apply GAAS and BDO standards to the delivery of quality services.
  • Document and communicate findings, issues and recommendations to clients and senior staff.
  • Supervise and review work of audit associates, providing verbal and written feedback.
  • Collaborate with engagement managers to establish responsibilities of individual audit staff for specific areas.
  • Perform research, both internal and external, to support audit conclusions.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics is required or a Bachelor’s degree in another focus area and CPA certification is required.

Qualifications, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes‑Oxley, SEC, and PCAOB principles.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and professional standards.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate audit stages and engagements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skill in drafting complex financial statements with disclosures.
  • Exceptional analytical and diagnostic abilities.
  • Project management skills and ability to multi‑task in a deadline‑driven environment.
Experience
  • Two (2) or more years of audit experience in public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
License/Certifications
  • Eligible to sit for the CPA exam upon starting employment, required and actively pursuing completion of the exams.
  • CPA is preferred.
Software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with assurance applications and research tools.

  • Solid understanding and experience planning and coordinating the stages to perform an audit of a basic public and/or private company.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt style and messaging to effectively communicate with professionals at all levels both within the client organization and the firm.
  • Ability to successfully multi‑task while working independently and within a group environment.
  • Superior analytical and diagnostic skills and ability to break down complex issues and implement appropriate resolutions.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, deadline‑driven environment with a focus on details and accuracy.
  • Solid project management skills.

  • Cleveland, Ohio: $75,000 – $82,000
  • Colorado: $72,000 – $80,000
  • Illinois: $78,000 – $87,000
  • Maryland: $78,000 – $93,000
  • Minnesota: $70,000 – $80,000
  • Massachusetts: $81,500 – $90,000
  • New Jersey: $80,000 – $95,000
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $80,000 – $115,000
  • Washington: $72,000 – $90,000
  • Washington DC: $80,000 – $100,000
