Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Process-Biosolids/Energy Engineer with in-depth knowledge of liquid and solids process, energy planning, evaluation, and design projects. Work will include process evaluation, trouble shooting, modeling and design of advanced solids treatment and energy production in the Southeast and throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Candidate will utilize consulting expertise to organize, manage and execute work on projects and to help ensure successful client relationships. In addition, the candidate will be actively engaged in business development opportunities as well as research and development. The candidate will work closely with strong technical experts and other leaders in the company. Detailed

Description
  • Develop and provide process design basis, PFDs, process descriptions, mass and energy balances, process data sheets, preliminary engineering designs, and recommendations for biosolids and/or energy process upgrades
  • Process modeling of new and existing treatment facilities
  • Engage in process evaluations, optimizations and troubleshooting of existing facilities.
  • Develop system wide energy models and greenhouse gas accounting
  • Understand regulations governing biosolids beneficial use at the state and local level.
  • Understand biosolids derived products and their general market applications.
  • Provide project quality assurance and quality control
  • Provide technical support to sales teams
  • Serve as project manager and interface with engineering disciplines, departments, and other offices to develop and deliver solids treatment system and energy projects
  • Preparation of engineering reports, technical memoranda and specifications
  • Coordination and leadership of project team members and task leaders
  • Active engagement with clients to develop new work
  • Professional publication and Association involvement, particularly regional biosolids associations and biosolids committees.
  • Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
  • Assist with business development pursuits
  • Mentor BC’s next generation of junior-level engineers to become future leaders in the solids process treatment arena
Desired Skills and Experience
  • B.S. degree in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in municipal wastewater and consulting
  • Experience should include evaluation and selection of conventional and advanced treatment solids processes and ability to research equipment and technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and permitting
  • Strong project or task management skills
  • Successful technical presentation, proposal writing, and public presentations
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required
Salary Range

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $106,000 - $145,000

Location B: $117,000 - $160,000

Location C: $128,000 - $174,000
