Public Works Inspector

The position requires one (1) year of experience in Public Works construction activities involving the reading and interpretation of plans, specifications, engineering drawings, etc., to include experience in the construction or installation of various Public Work Improvements along with an understanding of surveying techniques related to Public Work items.

The applicant shall have the knowledge and abilities to handle complaints tactfully and promptly, apply Local Ordinances, Resolutions, and Codes relating to Public Work cases, have knowledge of practices and procedures used in construction, maintenance, and repairs of streets, sewers, and other Public Works facilities, have the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, have the ability to learn quickly, understand and carry out oral and written directions and explanations.

The position requires the ability to work well with others as a member in a team environment. Interaction with the Township’s residents is frequent and a key portion of the job. The position can include working outdoors in all weather conditions as may be needed.

This position will be under the direction of the Township’s Director of Public Works and will work closely with the Township Engineering Division. A valid New Jersey Driver’s License is required.
