Financial Director

• Manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, cash management, and bank reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
• Complete monthly journal entries and update trial balance schedules
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements

• Develop and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with Board of Directors
• Track budget-to-actual and actual-to-prior period performance and provide variance analysis
• Prepare cash flow projections and support financial decision-making

• Manage grant and restricted fund accounting and reporting
• Ensure compliance with donor restrictions, contracts, and regulatory requirements
• Prepare schedules and documentation for annual audits or financial reviews
• Manage the annual audit and partner with external tax advisors on the preparation of annual tax returns
• Support preparation of Form 990 and other required filings

• Establish and maintain internal controls appropriate for a small non-profit organization
• Maintain and improve accounting systems, policies, and procedures
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency
• Serve as a financial resource for program and development staff
• Present financial information clearly to leadership and board members

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
• Experience handling full-cycle accounting in a small organization
• Proficiency with Quick Books accounting software and Microsoft Excel

• Highly detail-oriented and organized
• Self-directed and comfortable working independently
• Strong judgment and integrity
• Ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences
• Commitment to the mission and values of the organization
