The RMR Technician works with energized equipment and performs testing activities in accordance with established Installation, Test, and Troubleshooting processes. This role conducts detailed troubleshooting on vehicles and systems including Train Control, ATC, Train Communication, subsystems, and equipment to identify root causes of failures, integration issues, and both temporary and long term corrective solutions in collaboration with product engineering teams. The technician ensures strict adherence to safety procedures throughout all tasks.

Responsibilities also include timely reporting of test and field activities, executing installation support, performing Field Modification Instructions, and supervising contractors as required.

Main Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities

Execute testing activities:

  • In support of one or several projects on railway signalling systems under managerial direction.
  • According to approved testing procedures and documentation, and following instructions from the DIS/Services Engineer or Leader.

Identify and correct defects through structured troubleshooting.

Verify that all test tools and equipment are functioning correctly and properly calibrated.

Replace defective equipment and ensure repairs are completed according to established procedures.

When a nonconformity is detected during lab testing or commissioning activities, provide Return of Experience (REX) feedback to the project team and accurately record all design related issues, including defect descriptions and test context, in the appropriate systems.

Deliver expected performance in quality, cost, and schedule while maintaining full compliance with Alstom policies, local standards, and regulatory requirements including EHS and Railway Safety.

Specific Responsibilities for RMR
  • Work on a manufacturing floor while fully adhering to all EHS requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Read and interpret drawings and electrical schematics accurately.
  • Knowledge of SAP transactions such as IW52, IW67, and ME23N is considered an asset.
Performance Measurement
  • Efficiency and proactivity during execution of Testing and Commissioning lab tests.
  • Full compliance with EHS expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Quality of planning, anticipation, monitoring, and reporting.
Education/Experience
  • High school graduate plus one two years additional education in an electronics technical school or two academic years of college in engineering/science or equivalent.
Competencies and Skills
  • Ability to perform lab based work, including night or extended shifts when required.
  • Rigorous and reliable team player.
  • Resilience and strong analytical thinking to resolve subsystem failures.
  • Customer focused and results oriented.
  • Clear and open communication with the DIS/Services team.
  • Ability to learn and use new tools and technologies is an advantage.
