Purpose OfThe Role
The Warehouse Operative role is a critical function that ensures the efficiency of our engineering workforce and the success of our client service delivery KPIs. The purpose of this role is to manage the flow of materials, inventory, and vehicles to ensure that field engineers have accurate stock and reliable transport, enabling us to provide excellent service and efficient repairs to our clients.
CoreResponsibilities
- Goods Handling & Inventory Administration:
Receive, pick, pack, and dispatch goods and carry out related stock control tasks. - Stock Accuracy:
Conduct accurate weekly, monthly, and annual stock checks on specified items to maintain critical stock levels. - Loading & Unloading:
Safely load and unload lorries and vans using a forklift (training provided if required). - Fleet Management Support:
Book company vans for repairs, servicing, and MOTs, and assist the Operations Team with vehicle maintenance. - Logistics & Driving:
Deliver materials or critical components to engineers or job sites as needed. - Uniform Management:
Manage the stock of engineers’ uniforms to ensure sufficient inventory for replacements and new starters. - Health & Safety:
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in the warehouse at all times, adhering to all H&S policies.
- Organisational Excellence:
Exceptional timekeeping and organisational skills with attention to detail. - IT Proficiency:
Good IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. - Adaptability:
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and manage changing priorities. - Teamwork & Independence:
Proven ability to work independently on core tasks while collaborating effectively with the wider Operations Team. - Problem‑Solving: A proactive, can‑do attitude with problem‑solving skills to overcome logistical or material challenges.
- Physical Capability:
Ability to safely lift and move heavy goods.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is desirable but not essential.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical materials is desirable but not essential (full training will be provided).
- Working knowledge of Inventory Management Systems is desirable (full training will be provided).
- Forklift Licence required; training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Full UK Driving Licence mandatory.
- Competitive Salary (£28,000 – £30,000 depending on experience and qualifications)
