Support daily operations of the athletics compliance office, represent the senior compliance professional when absent, and ensure compliance with NCAA, Big Ten, and University rules and policies.
Education:
Collaborate in the development and facilitation of educational programming for coaches, staff, student-athletes, donors and fans. Including providing research and recommendations related to interpretations of NCAA and Big Ten rules and Purdue University policies & procedures. Communicate department's compliance philosophy and procedures to university personnel, student-athletes and Alumni.
NCAA and BIG Ten Eligibility:
Provide research and recommendations with educational outreach regarding NCAA or Big Ten rules (e.g., Initial eligibility). Provide research and recommendations with other initial eligibility related matters (e.g., academic or amateurism evaluations).
Revenue Sport Liaison:
Serve as an athletics compliance office liaison to multiple sports, including select high profile revenue sports (e.g., Football) in collaboration with the senior compliance officer. Including but not limited to reviewing and interpreting Big Ten and NCAA Regulations.
Monitoring Activities of NCAA, Big Ten and University rules and policies:
Gathering, researching, and monitoring of information and activities to ensure compliance of NCAA and Big Ten rules. Gathering, researching, and monitoring of information and activities to ensure compliance of Purdue University policies and procedures.
Administrative Duties:
Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Deputy AD.
Bachelor's degree required (no specific field of study). Six (6) years of athletics compliance-related work experience in intercollegiate athletics.
Ability to read, analyze, interpret, instruct and effectively communicate complex rules, regulations and policies from the University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA. Ability to effectively communicate with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, parents, faculty, staff, and high school staff members. Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), planning, problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, analytical, and customer service skills. Interpersonal skills in dealing sensitively with a wide variety of constituents necessary.
Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes. Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, etc., necessary.
