The Internal Audit Intern is responsible for assisting with audit preparation, documentation gathering, research, and file/account testing, conducting closed account letters and signature card review, and create, develop and use analytical spreadsheets and special projects as needed and deemed appropriate to the position. Purdue Federal Credit Union is dedicated to fostering the academic and professional growth of interns by providing valuable hands‑on experience.

Through active involvement in meaningful projects and a structured, mentored‑learning environment, Interns have the opportunity to enhance their skills and contribute to the credit union's success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Audit Preparation & Testing Support

  • Assist with audit preparation for Internal Audits, External Audits, and Regulatory Exams.
  • Gather documentation, conduct research, and perform file and account testing.
  • Support audit team members with organizing materials and maintaining accurate records.

Monthly Review Activities

  • Conduct regular monthly activity items such as closed account letters and signature card reviews.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained according to internal standards.

Special Projects

  • Support special projects as needed and deemed appropriate to the position.
  • Assist with creating, developing, and utilizing analytical spreadsheets to support audit initiatives.

  • Basic knowledge of internal controls.
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts and theory.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to assimilate, summarize, and analyze information to reach logical conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors, and company contacts.

  • Must be able to work 20 hours per week during the school semester and 40 hours per week during the summer months.
Qualifications

Required

High School Diploma or Equivalent or better.

Experience

Required

Must be a current undergraduate in the Purdue Mitch Daniel's School of Business with a declared major in accounting, finance or business.
