Position OverviewThe EPLAN CAD Designer is responsible for developing accurate electrical schematics and documentation for industrial control systems. This role requires a solid working knowledge of industrial controls design and close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and build‑ready.
Key Responsibilities- Create and maintain electrical schematics using EPLAN
- Design industrial control systems, including power distribution and control wiring
- Develop panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Apply electrical standards and best practices (UL, NEC, IEC as applicable)
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to support system builds
- Revise drawings based on field feedback, testing results, and change requests
- Maintain organized project documentation and revision control
- Support troubleshooting and design clarification during manufacturing and installation
- Working knowledge of industrial controls design
- Strong understanding of electrical control components
- Ability to design and document control schematics and power distribution systems
- Working knowledge of PLC‑based control systems
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical standards and specifications
- Close attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, drafting, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience using EPLAN in an industrial or automation environment
- Experience creating electrical schematics for industrial control systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with industrial control panels and enclosure design
- Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and industrial networking
- Knowledge of UL 508A or similar standards
- Experience supporting manufacturing or field installation teams
- Office‑based design work with regular interaction with manufacturing & engineering teams
- Occasional shop floor or field support
