This program takes place 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:00am-3:30pm) from June 9th to August 7th. This program allows new nurse externs to be trained to assist the RN in various patient care activities. Each nurse extern will have the opportunity to shadow registered nurses in various specialty areas within the hospital. As a nurse extern, you will observe how the healthcare team functions and work together to help the patient reach their goals.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

* Completes orientation & training

* Shadow the role of RNs on various patient care units each day.

* Assists the RN with ADLs, vital signs, skin care, ambulation and many other tasks.

* Interacts with the healthcare team, observing intercollegiate relationships, plans of care, treatment plans & discharge plans are implemented.

* Participates in the daily routine of each unit.

* Maintains professional appearance and conduct at all times.

* Seeks out additional learning opportunities.

* Encouraged to stay on as a nursing assistant per diem post the externship.

Requirements:

* Currently enrolled as a nursing student in an accredited BSN nursing program and has completed Nursing Fundamentals/Nursing 101.

* BLS for Healthcare Providers Training accepted from American Heart Association only.

* Must have good interpersonal & communication skills, positive attitude, flexible, and able to work in a fast paced team environment.

* Proficient computer skills.

Salary Range

USD $28.85 - USD $28.85 /Hr.
