Eligible for a $7,500 sign‑on bonus (half paid at 6 months and the other half after one year of employment for experienced candidates). Good Samaritan University Hospital is a 537‑bed teaching hospital (including 100 nursing home beds) and a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. With almost 900 physicians on staff and a Level I Trauma Center, we care for well over 100,000 patients annually across the south shore of Long Island.

• Recover, assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and manage overall care for patients who have undergone open‑heart surgery.
• Partner with an interdisciplinary team—including attending physicians, registered nurses (RN), and ancillary staff—to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
• Cross‑train between the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) and the Intermediate Care Unit.
• Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education.

• Passion for the CTICU.
• 1+ year of experience in a Critical Care Unit (CCU, ICU, CTICU, CVICU, etc.); experience with open‑heart patients is a plus.
• 1+ year of cardiac step‑down experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree (associate degree considered if enrolled in an accredited BSN program).
• New York Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required;
  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required;
  Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.

USD $54.49 – USD $74.73 per hour. This range serves as a good faith estimate; actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
