Senior Estimator

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established heavy civil contractor in West Islip that is looking to add an experienced Senior Estimator to its preconstruction team. The company delivers a range of heavy highway and infrastructure projects and is seeking someone who can take ownership of the estimating process from early review through bid submission.

This role will focus on developing accurate cost estimates, reviewing technical documents, and coordinating pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.

• Develop detailed cost estimates for heavy highway and civil construction projects
• Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and contractual documents to understand project requirements
• Perform quantity takeoffs for roadway, bridge, railway, and structural building components
• Concentrate on subcontracted scopes including saw cutting, joint and crack sealing, and waterproofing-related work
• Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers and evaluate proposals for completeness and competitiveness
• Support the preparation of bid packages and assist with overall bid strategy where required

• Experience estimating heavy civil / highway construction projects
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and managing subcontractor pricing
• Familiarity with infrastructure and DOT-style projects preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
