Job Description
Hai Hospitality Uchiko is accepting applications for Sushi Chefs. In this role you will be a vital member of our team, enriching the culinary and service experience for our guests.
Salary
Average hourly pay $27–$48 (base rate plus tips).
Sign-on Bonus
$1,250 sign-on bonus payable after 90 days following the completion of training.
What You’ll Do- Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine.
- Learn and perfect sushi techniques under the guidance of skilled Chef teams.
- Understand proper handling and waste reduction of product.
- Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest.
- Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows.
- Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu.

- Detect and identify safety issues and comply with safety guidelines and standards.
- Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs; stock inventory and perform restocking duties.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items.
- Work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements.
- Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives.
- Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces.
- Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs.
- Work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area.

- Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including proper uniform and personal grooming.
