Job SummaryThe Room Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily work activities of Housekeeping personnel to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive guest rooms and public spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assign duties, supervise work activities, inspect work, investigate, and take corrective action to housekeeping related issues.
- Ensure clear, concise, efficient, and appropriate communication at all times with Housekeeping, Laundry, Front Desk, Engineering, and In Room Dining.
- Utilize Opera system to check and update room status – consistently obtain reports to ensure fluidity in daily operations. Communicate efficiently to staff about room check‑outs, stayovers, rush rooms, queue rooms, early arrivals, etc.
- Follow up and resolve outstanding Engineering or Housekeeping room issues from previous shift or reports (i.e., Out of Order, Dirty, Out of Service, Pickup).
- Responsible for checking, organizing, and communicating guest amenities, traces, and VIP rider lists placed by IRD. Communicate and resolve any discrepancies.
- Issue and receive supplies and equipment from Housekeeping staff daily. Ensure that the proper forms are accurate and complete.
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and functionality of work areas. Report any malfunctions and/or damages to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Assist management with monthly pre‑inventory for linen and supplies, and the coordination and proper execution of special and seasonal projects as directed.
- Directly supervise up to 30 employees.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
- Dependable and demonstrates an outstanding attendance record and is punctual.
- Displays high level of professional integrity and ethical conduct.
- Maintains calmness and composure under high levels of pressure.
- Adapts to frequent change, fast‑paced environment, delays, or unexpected events.
- Pays close attention to details.
- Ability to multitask and use time efficiently and effectively.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills.
- High school diploma or GED; or 1‑2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Luxury hotel and/or luxury residence experience preferred.
- High volume/fast‑paced environment experience preferred.
- Proficient English and Spanish – verbal.
- Must have flexible work availability – all shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Opera PMS experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook experience preferred.
- The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
