Overview
Under direct supervision, the Recreation Aide plays a key role in the success of the City of West Hollywood's summer programs
. You will be responsible for assisting in a variety of recreation programs such as Day Camp and Youth programs, special events, and providing excellent customer service to park patrons. This is an entry-level position and a great opportunity to gain experience in recreation or the public sector. Prior and current experience working with the public or children is desirable. Experience may include volunteer work.
- Assists in leading recreation activities.
- Maintains inventory of playground supplies.
- Assists in room and facility set-up when necessary.
- Performs miscellaneous clerical duties such as filing and answering phones.
No specific minimum education required.

Thursday, May 28th (5:00pm-8:00pm), and Thursday, June 11th (8:00am-5:00pm) - CIR or CPR & First Aid Training:
Saturday, May 30th (9:00am-1:00pm) - Summer Camp Dates:
Monday, June 15th – Friday, August 7th
Selection process: As part of the selection process, qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a group activity assessment and an interview with the Recreation Leadership Team. The group activities and interviews will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Special Requirements- Must meet the minimum age requirement of 14 years old prior to new hire orientation (May 11, 2026).
- If under 18, must have a valid work permit prior to employment. Please contact your school s Job Counselor/Career Center for more information regarding a work permit.
- Must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Documentation may include (but is not limited to):
Passport, Social Security card, school , California Driver s License, California . - Candidates 18 years of age or older must complete a CPR Code 5164 Background Questionnaire prior to hire.
- Candidates selected for hire will be required to successfully complete a City-paid physical and background check.

Knowledge and SkillsKnowledge of: Basic recreation activities and games.
Skills and ability:
- Assist in recreation games and follow written and oral instructions.
