Job DescriptionThe College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Hartford is seeking to fill a clinical/applied assistant professor position in Radiologic Technology beginning July 2026. The selected candidate will serve as the clinical coordinator for the radiography and advanced certificate programs in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) within the Radiologic Technology (RAD) Program, serving the Department of Health Sciences.
Candidates are expected to contribute to the program’s mission, enhance curricular offerings, and strengthen our academic and clinical quality.
The successful applicant will usually teach courses across the radiologic technology curriculum, which may change based on departmental needs. There may also be opportunities to teach our innovative general education and interdisciplinary courses. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professional productivity evidenced by sustained excellence and innovation in clinical/applied practice, contributions to the profession through publications, presentations, or other publicly disseminated work, and service to academic, professional, or Hartford area communities.
Service to the program, department, college, and university typically includes advising students, contributing to student recruitment, and retention. Consistent with Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accreditation requirements, the clinical coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of clinical experiences including:
- Correlating and coordinating clinical education with didactic education in all clinical experiences;
- Participating in didactic and clinical instruction;
- Continuous review and revision of clinical course curricula and overall programmatic structure;
- Expansion of existing and development of new clinical affiliate relationships;
- Comprehensive management of all clinical eligibility screening (e.g., background checks, drug testing, immunization records) and clinical site orientation/onboarding;
- Identification and implementation of pedagogical advances and inclusive instruction to meet the needs of evolving practice standards and the general effectiveness of the students’ clinical education in radiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.
The initial Clinical/Applied contract is 1‑2 years and subsequent longer‑term contracts are based on review of performance and the continuing need for the position.
Required QualificationsRequired:
- An earned master’s degree in a health‑related field or higher education from an accredited institution at the time of appointment;
- Current ARRT certification and registration in radiography;
- Current or ability to gain an active radiographer license in the State of Connecticut;
- Minimum of three years’ professional experience;
- Minimum of one year teaching experience in face‑to‑face, online, hybrid, or laboratory courses within a Radiologic Sciences curriculum.
Preferred:
- Graduate degree in Radiologic Sciences, Higher Education, Healthcare Administration, or another area relevant to health professions education or practice;
- Two years documented teaching experience in a JRCERT‑accredited medical imaging program;
- Experience in online, hybrid, or face‑to‑face teaching methodologies that reflect culturally responsive and inclusive practices;
- Evidence of effective teaching students from diverse backgrounds in an inclusive learning environment;
- Experience in mentoring and academic advising undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds in an inclusive learning environment;
