Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. This role plays a key part in supporting strategic decision-making, maintaining compliance with nonprofit regulations, and strengthening internal controls.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash management
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Manage the annual audit process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, IRS regulations, and grant requirements
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with leadership
Monitor and report on restricted and unrestricted funds
Strengthen and maintain internal controls and financial policies
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Support grant reporting and donor financial reporting as needed
Assist leadership with financial analysis, board reporting, and strategic planning
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit or fund accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting
Experience managing audits and working with external auditors
Proficiency with accounting software and Excel (nonprofit systems a plus)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment
