Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. This role plays a key part in supporting strategic decision-making, maintaining compliance with nonprofit regulations, and strengthening internal controls.

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash management

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

• Manage the annual audit process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, IRS regulations, and grant requirements

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with leadership

• Monitor and report on restricted and unrestricted funds

• Strengthen and maintain internal controls and financial policies

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff

• Support grant reporting and donor financial reporting as needed

• Assist leadership with financial analysis, board reporting, and strategic planning

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit or fund accounting

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting

• Experience managing audits and working with external auditors

• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel (nonprofit systems a plus)

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment
