Interim School Counselor

Overview

West Hartford Public Schools seeks to fill the position of an Interim School Counselor at Sedgwick Middle School. The Middle School School Counselor delivers a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model to support students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development. The counselor collaborates with students, families, and school staff to promote equity, access, and student success. The anticipated end of assignment for this position is June 2026.

• Delivering classroom lessons, individual, and group counseling services
• Supporting students with academic planning, executive functioning, and social/emotional skills
• Providing career awareness and exploration activities
• Case managing Section 504 Plans and Student Success Plans (SSPs), including coordination, documentation, and meetings
• Collaborating with educators, families, and support teams
• Using student data to inform programming and measure outcomes
• Supporting student needs, including crisis intervention as needed

• Valid CT Certification (068) is required
• Current resume, transcripts, copy of current certification (305) and 3 letters of recommendation dated within the last 365 days

Salary: negotiable per the teacher's salary schedule.
