Role Summary

Field-based Specialty Representative for Gastroenterology in Fargo, North Dakota, responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and building strong customer relationships to maximize short and long-term sales performance. The role centers the patient in efforts and requires operating within Abb Vie’s code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations. This geography covers Fargo, Sioux Falls, Bismarck and the surrounding areas.

The role is hired at a level commensurate with experience, and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. in order to meet or exceed on those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan using SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Required:

    Relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Required:

    Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required:

    Proven track record of success in selling with solid presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style; anticipates and responds to changes.
  • Required:

    Influences others; credible and respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example and coaches peers through change.
  • Required:

    Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred:
    Proven track record of sales performance within respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed healthcare or marketing;
    English proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Required:

    Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations within the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Required:

    HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting and specific licenses; responsibility to satisfy all requirements;

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
Additional Requirements
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements and maintain credentials to gain access to facilities and organizations within the territory; responsible for any associated liability for failing to meet requirements.
  • Ability to travel within the territory as required by the role.
