SEMH Learning Support Assistant needed for an Alternative Provision. The specialist SEMH School caters to young people who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools.

• Exceptional behaviour management skills; build positive relationships with young people and staff.
• Teach/co‑cover a range of lessons when needed.
• Work with secondary aged pupils with SEMD, SEBD and challenging behaviour (KS1‑KS5).
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to define appropriate activities within the curriculum.
• Assess children with learning difficulties and identify individual needs, using the school’s personalised Individual Education Plans.
• Liaise with professionals such as social workers, speech & language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists.

• SEN, EBD, mental health experience.
• ASD knowledge.
• Excellent behaviour management.
• Current Child and Adult DBS on the update service.
• Classroom experience, working with primary or secondary pupils.
• Experience teaching a range of subjects.
• Experience covering and tutoring small groups; familiar with challenging behaviour.
• Team Teach or MAPA training.
