Truck Driver (Class A CDL)
Position Summary
Safely and efficiently drives a tractor/trailer to transport product to customers according to company guidelines, customer requirements, and applicable laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate tractor/trailer in accordance with company policies, DOT guidelines, and traffic laws during day or night under various traffic and weather conditions.
- Conduct and document pre‑and post‑trip inspections on truck and trailer.
- Secure cargo on trailer.
- Make deliveries according to route and schedule as indicated on the manifest.
- Open, close trailer doors, help unsecure cargo, hold units upright, and offload light product at customer locations.
- Ensure product accuracy and quality by scanning tag numbers and visually inspecting unloaded product.
- Obtain customer signatures on proof of delivery and submit to Dispatcher as required.
- Operate and maintain a mobile electronic on‑board recording device.
- Report truck, trailer, equipment, and material problems or damage, accidents, and traffic violations promptly to the appropriate company official.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum age 21.
- Minimum 18 months verifiable tractor‑trailer commercial driving experience within the past 3 years.
- For Over‑the‑Road drivers: 2 years verifiable tractor‑trailer commercial driving experience within the past 3 years.
- No more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years and no more than 3 within the past 7 years.
- No DUIs within the last 7 years.
- No reckless driving, speeding 15 mph and over, leaving the scene of an accident in the past 3 years.
- No at‑fault DOT recordable accidents in the past 3 years.
- Current Class A CDL required.
- Ability to obtain a new DOT certified medical card and pass a Work Well Physical Abilities test at time of hire.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. An average week includes 1–14 customer stops.
Work Environment
Employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate.
Pay
Pay: $0.63/mile; $30/stop or $30/day (whichever greater). Detention $30/hr after first two hours.
