Position purpose:
Repair and Tool Technicians evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. They make equipment recommendations and ensure that units are maintained. Technicians work in stores with Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers. In a store, technicians provide service to Tool Rental customers, write customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, check that tools are operating properly, and demonstrate proper use as needed.
In non-store locations, technicians ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, and cleaned prior to returning to the originating store. Technicians must have thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools as necessary.
- Evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices.
- Provide equipment recommendations and ensure units are maintained.
- In-store duties: service Tool Rental customers, prepare contracts and invoices for rentals and repairs, verify proper operation, and demonstrate proper use as needed.
- Maintain day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department.
- In non-store locations: ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, and cleaned prior to returning to the originating store.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage tool inventory by maintenance and repairs as necessary.
- Strong knowledge of tools and equipment with ability to repair and maintain a variety of equipment.
- Attention to detail, quality control, and customer service in a retail/tool rental environment.
- Ability to work in both store and repair center settings.
