Overview
As a vital member of our surgical care team, the Registered Nurse provides compassionate, skilled care for patients ages 3 and older. This role goes beyond bedside care—RNs are integral to ensuring safe, seamless surgical experiences and positive patient outcomes.

Area of Interest: Nursing
Shift: 40 hours per week, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., four days per week with rotating weekly/weekend call. One call holiday per year. Time may be full-time with additional details provided by the hiring team.
Sign-On / Relocation: New Hire Sign-on Bonus: $10,000. Relocation bonus of $10,000 for Full Time if relocating more than 50 miles.

- Deliver expert nursing care across diverse patient populations, from children to adults.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and fellow healthcare professionals to uphold safety and quality.
- Support a wide range of surgical specialties, including Orthopedics, General Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, and Podiatry.
- Play a critical role in patient advocacy, education, and recovery to support patients throughout their surgical journey.

Responsibilities- Assess the needs of patients and families, provide appropriate teaching, and refer for continuity of care.
- Develop an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.
- Promptly complete documentation to ensure an accurate legal record of patient care.
- Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Utilize a holistic approach considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to patient age and family served.
- Delegate and provide direction for other health care team members within their scope of practice and ensure involvement in the plan of care.
- Apply critical thinking in developing nursing interventions while maintaining responsibility for patient conditions.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved program.
- License / Certification: Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
- Experience: Minimum of six months acute RN experience. All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than six months acute RN experience who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health – Des Moines are encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program. - Other: Level 3 Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. 30-minute return time if called back in.
