Responsibilities- Provide and coordinate nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
- Complete documentation to assure an accurate record of patient care.
- Utilize critical thinking in making independent judgments; maintain responsibility for conditions of assigned patients.
- Collaborate with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations.
- Assess needs of patients and families, provide appropriate teaching for discharge planning, and make necessary referrals to community agencies for continuity of care.
- Use a holistic approach (physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, etc.) appropriate to patient age.
- Demonstrate initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. - License(s)/Certification(s):
Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. - Experience:
Minimum six months acute RN experience; newly licensed RNs or those with < 6 months of acute experience encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program (link provided).
Level 3 Medium Work:
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
