Food and Beverage Services Supervisor

Overview

The City of West Des Moines has an excellent opportunity for a food service professional to join our Parks and Recreation department.

Under the direct supervision of the Rec Plex General Manager and in collaboration with the Superintendent of Recreation or designee, the Food & Beverage Services Supervisor provides leadership and business oversight for the City’s multi-site food and beverage operations including the Mid American Energy Rec Plex, aquatic centers, and sports complexes. This position manages all aspects of food service including staffing, vendor relationships, inventory control, pricing, and financial performance across multiple facilities.

The Supervisor ensures operational consistency, high-quality customer service, compliance with health and safety standards, and continuous improvement in efficiency and profitability. This role combines strategic oversight with on-site operational leadership to ensure successful day-to-day execution and long-term business growth.

To meet minimum requirements for this role, we ask that you have a combination of education and experience, equivalent to:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Parks and Recreation Administration, Culinary Arts, or related area preferred.
• Associate's Degree in a related discipline required.
• Three (3) years of experience in culinary arts, food service, hospitality, or a similar industry, with demonstrated supervisory or managerial responsibilities for at least one (1) year.
• Specific experience in a fast-paced, event-driven environment with strong focus on customer service and profitable operation preferred.
