Overview
Des Moines Orthopaedics - West Des Moines and Des Moines locations are hiring a full-time Surgery Scheduler. The role guides patients through their orthopaedic journey by scheduling follow-up appointments, assisting with surgery scheduling, and submitting prior authorizations for procedures. The position primarily operates at the West Des Moines location with flexibility to cover the Ankeny and Des Moines locations as needed.
You will work with a team of patient care navigators and clinical staff to create an outstanding patient experience.
Locations:
- West Des Moines: 6001 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266, USA
- Des Moines: 1301 Penn Avenue, Suite 213, Des Moines, IA 50316, USA
- Act as the patient’s guide and reliable helper for scheduling surgery and any necessary follow-up care.
- Utilize Office 365 products to organize physician surgery schedules, insurance prior authorizations, and communicate with hospital and ambulatory surgery center staff.
- Support a private practice that aims to deliver outstanding experiences for patients throughout their orthopaedic journey.
- Perform duties while seated at a desk for extended periods as needed.
- Calm: ability to communicate calmly with patients and physicians.
- Professional: maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with patients and clinical staff.
- Multi-tasker: handle multiple tasks at one time while staying organized.
- Curiosity: listen, ask clarifying questions, and avoid interrupting.
- Experience:

ExperienceMedical Reception or Coordination (preferred: 1 year).
