Overview
The City of Chino Hills is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our Summer Aquatics Program as an Aquatics Instructor. This eight-week program offers weekly swim lessons, and we’re looking for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, interacting with people of all ages, and are available to work from May to July.
The program runs from June 1 to July 24
, Monday to Friday, from approximately 11:00 a.m.
- 3:00 p.m. daily.
The Aquatics Instructor is responsible for providing swim instruction and monitoring swimmers in and around the pool. They work under the direct supervision of the Community Services Coordinator and Aquatics Manager to ensure the safe use of the swimming facilities. In addition to enforcing regulations, the Aquatics Instructor performs related duties that contribute to the overall safety and enjoyment of the facility.
This is the perfect summer job for you if you have at least two years of experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, or swim team member—whether paid or volunteer—and if you re responsible and safety-conscious.

Note: Candidates selected for hire must be available to commit to mandatory paid training the week of May 26 - May 30, 2026.
Essential duties- Teach swim strokes and water safety to different age groups and individuals with varying abilities.
- Supervise the activities of swimmers in and around the pool; ensure that policies, rules, and regulations are observed, and that no safety hazard is created.
- Warn swimmers of improper activities or dangers and enforce the observance of warnings.
- Administer first aid in the event of injuries.
- Rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, administer CPR or other life-saving techniques.
- This position may perform other related duties as assigned.
- Requires two (2) years combined of paid or volunteer experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor or swim team member.
- Must be 16 years of age to apply. If still in High School and under the age of 18 must obtain a work permit prior to first day of work.
- American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR, and First Aid for the professional rescuer;
American Red Cross certifications in Water Safety Instructor (WSI). - Submit proof of enrollment in Lifeguard and WSI certification classes by first week of May; certifications must be completed prior to first day of work.
- City will reimburse any job-related certifications obtained in 2026 after the contracted swim season is completed.
