A Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) teaching job involves instructing nursing students in the principles and practices of medical-surgical nursing, both in classroom and clinical settings. Responsibilities include developing and delivering curriculum, evaluating student performance, providing feedback, and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Core Responsibilities:- Curriculum Development and Delivery:
- Developing and updating lesson plans and materials for both classroom and clinical settings.
- Delivering lectures, conducting laboratory sessions, and supervising students in clinical rotations.
- Ensuring curriculum aligns with current surgical practices and relevant standards.
- Student Evaluation and Feedback:
- Assessing student knowledge and skill levels through various methods (e.g., exams, clinical evaluations, assignments).
- Providing constructive feedback to students on their performance, both immediately after observations and at midterm/end of semester.
- Clinical Supervision and Guidance:
- Supervising students in clinical settings, ensuring they provide safe and effective patient care.
- Clarifying clinical expectations with students and clinical staff.
- Preparing clinical experiences and assignments to meet student learning needs.
- Mentorship and Support:
- Serving as a mentor and role model for students.
- Providing guidance and support to help students develop their skills and confidence.
- Creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Professional Development and
Collaboration:- Maintaining and updating their own knowledge and skills in medical-surgical nursing.
- Collaborating with other faculty members to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
- Participating in curriculum development and program improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Master's (MSN) or doctoral degree (DNP/PhD) in nursing is often required.
- Licensure: An unencumbered professional nursing license in the relevant state is essential.
- Experience: At least three years of professional experience in medical-surgical nursing within the last five years is typically required.
- Teaching
Experience:
Prior teaching or precepting experience is often preferred. - Clinical
