Job Summary
This position is responsible for the repair of construction machines, component assemblies, and parts in the shop and field. Duties include diagnosing problems, ordering parts, writing technical reports, reporting warranties, maintaining company assets, and communicating with others.
Responsibilities
- Repair equipment and components, including development of repair plans and sequences.
- Determine necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
- Perform repairs properly and safely with quality assurance testing of repaired components or systems.
- Maintain and complete all necessary reports (parts ordering, special tooling usage, daily service reports, work‑order closure) legibly and on time.
- Communicate repair progress with supervisors as required.
- Retrieve and return parts and materials through the company’s parts ordering system.
- Retrieve and return special tools through the company’s Tool Room; maintain proper care and use of major shop equipment such as air compressors, cleaning tanks, overhead and jib cranes, etc.
- Use company vehicle, service truck, and fuel cards properly.
- Maintain a safe, clean work area and service vehicle.
- Maintain tools and tool carriers in a safe, productive, and updated manner.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Observe all safety guidelines.
- Perform other tasks as requested by manager.
Education / Experience / Skills
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology, or four (4) years of apprenticeship experience.
- Technician classification is based on experience, knowledge, and competence.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch, or crawl, and talk and hear. Work Environment
Employees are frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration is occasional. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
