About the RoleJoin a leading manufacturing organization supporting an exciting new product development program currently in the prototype build stage. This Quality Technician role is highly technical and documentation-focused, playing a key role in developing quality processes and inspection plans that will support a successful production launch. This is not an auditing position.
You will work closely with Quality Engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure product requirements, inspection methods, and documentation are fully defined and production-ready.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain quality documentation for new product introduction, including:
- Incoming inspection plans
- First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation
- Audit and inspection plans
- Support prototype builds by gaining a full understanding of product design and manufacturing processes from incoming materials through final assembly
- Identify critical vs. non-critical characteristics and define appropriate inspection methods
- Assist with PFMEA/FMEA development and participate in PDAT processes
- Perform incoming material inspections and first article inspections using basic measurement tools (calipers, gauges, etc.)
- Document production processes and support training of production teams to ensure consistent execution
- Support production quality issues by updating documentation and inspection plans as needed once production begins
- Collaborate closely with Quality Engineers and fellow Quality Technicians to align quality processes and standards
- 3–5 years of experience in a quality or inspection role with a strong focus on documentation development
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
- Experience using basic inspection and measurement tools
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear, accurate technical documentation
- Comfortable working within computerized quality and production systems
- Manufacturing background strongly preferred
- Experience reading electrical schematics
- Background supporting new product launches or prototype builds
- Familiarity with FMEA, root cause analysis tools, and blueprint quality symbols
- Technical school or engineering technology coursework preferred (degree not required)
