We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Mechanic to join our team onsite in West Columbia, SC. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled mechanical work to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and improve industrial equipment and facility systems. This role ensures safe and efficient operation of production machinery by conducting preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, replacing or rebuilding components, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
The Maintenance Mechanic works closely with operations, safety, and engineering teams to minimize downtime, enhance equipment reliability, and maintain a safe work environment. Duties include inspecting and servicing machinery, responding to equipment breakdowns, documenting all maintenance activities, and following all company, OSHA, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, repair, alignments to hydraulic pneumatics production machines, motors PLCs, A/C and D/C, controls following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot equipment/system failures, provide root cause analysis of such failures and formulate applicable solutions. Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies; place and expedite orders, verify receipt.
- Draw mechanical diagrams of parts for regeneration/manufacturing of replacement parts. Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instruments and equipment.
- Remove/Replace defective and install machine parts, motors, pumps, belts, controls, compressors, machine blades.
- Repair parts using hoists, crane, hand and power tools. Familiar with the plant safety program and basic HACCP principles.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Welding, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical 480 3 Phase.
- Operate manual and power tools, welders, forklift, high-reach, DC Crane.
- Computer knowledge, ability to research product and/or specification, generate reports.
- Ability to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work in pits as well as elevated platforms for long periods.
- Required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day.
- Communicate deliver and pickup from machine shops regenerated machine parts.
- Required to work rotating shifts as needed in a 24/7/365 operation.
- Travel to other company locations when needed (once or twice a year).
- Minimum of a High School Diploma / GED is required. Technical Training Certification desired.
- Five years multi-skilled Mechanical Maintenance experience required.
