The Hydraulic Cylinder Technician assumes a high level of responsibility early. Successful Hydraulic Cylinder Technicians are fast learners, self-motivated and independent workers. Responsibilities
  • Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all types of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
  • Determine proper repair procedures for all assigned work orders.
  • Disassemble, inspect, determine parts requirements, install and/or replace new or reconditioned repair parts to factory specifications.
  • Perform operational tests on hydraulic cylinders for proper operation.
  • Ensure total customer service and professional handling of customer interactions.
  • Operate lifting devices and complete proper paperwork as assigned (part requisitions, timecards, part returns, accurate and complete service reports).
  • Prepare and maintain reports and forms as required.
  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of shop equipment including cylinder benches, cylinder honing machines, and cylinder testing benches.
  • Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, operating and maintenance service manuals.
  • Use diagnostic equipment (e.g., Cat ET, CAT-SIS) and familiarize with electronic cables, connections and sensors.
  • Identify and determine parts requirements and repair needs for all assigned work orders.
  • Disassemble and reassemble components as part of repair processes.
  • Discharges and completes all job responsibilities safely and professionally.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 3+ years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing hydraulic cylinders and related attachments preferred.
  • Shift work, weekends and/or 24-hour call may be required.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures is required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, operating and maintenance service manuals.
  • Organizational and time management skills; ability to set priorities and handle the stress of a fast-paced industry and deadlines.
  • Team player with enthusiasm, reliability, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and oral communication.
  • Professional personal demeanor as a representative of Blanchard when interacting with customers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Working Conditions
  • The physical environment is primarily inside (non-climate controlled).
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Must stand, stoop, squat, push, pull, twist, turn, and lift.
  • Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities; use of computers and technology to complete job duties.
