Job SummaryAssists patients, visitors, providers, and office staff in a courteous and friendly manner. Performs all duties efficiently and timely, maintaining a positive patient flow and serving as an office liaison when required.

- Maintains a positive attitude and communicates tactfully with staff and patients of all ages (infant through geriatric).
- Responds promptly to all patient and office staff requests.
- Performs duties assigned by authorized personnel or in emergencies.
- Phone communication (answer, transfer) and accurate, timely relay of orders/messages.
- Scheduling: referrals, appointments, ancillaries, surgeries, hospital admissions.
- Medical records: documentation, forms, electronic chart maintenance, image files, faxing, copying.
- Mail: inbound and outbound.
- Office operations: entering and verifying patient demographics and insurance information, obtaining signatures and consents, posting charges and payments, collecting office visit payments, providing daily updates, deposits, maintaining cash drawer, screening unpaid balances, providing financial counseling, working accounts receivable, precertification/authorization.
- Equipment responsibility: routine maintenance, ordering supplies, log sheets, cleaning of general office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
- In‑service and education, department orientation, annual training.
- Clerical log sheets/audit samples.
- Equipment support.
- Other responsibilities including coding (E/M visits, office procedures, surgeries, hospital services), correspondence, statistical reports, accounts payable, payroll, and chaperone duties.
- Provides support and guidance for clerical policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
