Ferguson is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to join our Waterworks division. This field‑based sales role supports customers in the Northern Illinois and Chicagoland area. A fuel card, auto allowance, travel and expense card, company cell phone, and laptop will be provided.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and an assigned customer base, working with branch associates to ensure satisfaction from order to delivery and beyond.
- Identify and actively pursue new business opportunities to expand the current customer base by collaborating with management to develop sales strategies and new account targeting.
- Perform duties including product quotation and problem resolution.
- Analyze competition in the territory, devise sales strategy, and communicate strategy to management.
- Continuously improve sales skills and product knowledge to promote a professional image in the field.
- Document all sales activity in Salesforce for ongoing evaluation of the business pipeline and measurement of sales closure results.
- 2+ years industry‑related sales experience preferred.
- Strong technical background and experience in water and/or wastewater industry preferred.
- Results‑oriented, self‑motivated, able to complete tasks in a timely manner, build relationships, and enjoy a team environment.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Problem‑solving, leadership, and listening skills.
- General digital literacy.
- Self‑motivator, ability to multi‑task and learn quickly.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a base plus commission eligible role, with no cap on commission. The estimated total compensation range, based on performance and experience, is $80,000 – $130,000+. Ferguson complies with all wage regulations. The starting wage may be higher in certain locations based on local or state wage requirements.
