Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Environmental Engineer, Environmental Compliance
This role supports Blachford by completing regulatory compliance requests from our customers and other regulatory agencies. This role’s key duties will be to organize supporting information, complete documentation and final submittal to regulatory authorities or customers. This role will also update and maintain internal databases/information supporting regulatory submissions to expedite processing of future customer requests. In addition, this role will also proactively monitor relevant changes in global chemical/material regulations including RoHS, REACH, PFAS, POPs, TSCA and work with our R&D and engineering teams to anticipate and adapt.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Documentation & submissions - Creating, updating, and submitting regulatory documents, as requested by our customers or regulatory agencies before deadlines. This role will actively cover regulatory requests for our North American manufacturing locations in Illinois, Wisconsin and North Carolina.
- Information gathering & organization – Utilize maintain and improve existing internal databases and information that supports regulatory submissions to customers. Request regulatory requirement information & documentation from our customers, suppliers, engineering/R&D teams (e.g. SDS, TDS, REACH) to complete requests.
- Communication – Advise sales team when submissions have been completed or if challenges have been encountered that require calcification from requesting agency. Provide status updates to sales and R&D teams periodically, typically every 2 weeks.
- Compliance monitoring - Monitor global and local regulations including REACH, RoHS, TSCA, PFAS, POPs to identify changes relevant to our business and communicate with our R&D team to adapt.
Required:
- Creative, detail oriented, inherently curious, independent learner, open ended problem solver
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, life sciences or related fields
- Practical knowledge of common regulations e.g. REACH, RoHS and TSCA
- Active knowledge of how to use information found on SDS or other safety and regulatory documents
- Able to use AI confidently to draft documents, summarize regulatory updates, automate routine tasks, and improve accuracy and efficiency across daily regulatory workflows.

- Proficiency using & navigating database and portal systems, e.g. Oracle
- 2-years work experience in material/chemical or related industry
- Willing and capable of learning new software skills
