General Purpose Of JobThis position will provide assistance to the NEOSA Music & Arts Departments in operating the Summer Music & Arts Conservatory programs and the Music & Art Camp by serving as a summer assistant and helping with/instructing classes and groups. This position is a pre‑leadership development role. The Divisional Music Director & Divisional Creative Arts Director will help guide you on your leadership development so you can use the skills to lead at your home Corps.
Responsibilities- Set‑up equipment as needed in all areas used for the Conservatory.
- Prepare and organize band & chorus music folders & drama scripts as directed.
- Attend Camp NEOSA's Ordination week for Keep Safe protocol and training.
- Be a float counselor during mealtime as needed.
- Assist with setting up and preparing various locations either the night before each Conservatory and Music & Arts Camp or on other nights directed by the Divisional Music Director & Divisional Creative Arts Director.
- Lead or assist with one of the audition locations as needed in both Conservatories and Music & Arts Camp.
- Lead a class in both Conservatories and Music & Arts Camp directed by the Divisional Music Director & Divisional Creative Arts Director.
- Assist with setting up for the finales in both Conservatories and Music & Arts Camp.
- Assist with tear‑down, packing, and return of equipment after the finale in both Conservatories and Music & Arts Camp.
- Conduct and/or assist with flagpole dismissals during Music & Arts Camp.
- Help lead morning devotions in both Music & Arts Conservatories.
- Enforce promptness for all classes.
- Assist with stage direction for finales as needed by the Divisional Music Director & Divisional Creative Arts Director.
- Attend all music & arts staff meetings in both Conservatories and Music & Arts Camp.
- Assist with setting up for the Evening Program in both Conservatories and Music & Arts Camp.
- Participate in Evening Programs assigned by the Divisional Music Director & Divisional Creative Arts Director in both Conservatories and Music & Arts Camp.
- Assist with loading & unloading the Music & Arts Department trailer.
- Meet with the Divisional Music Director & Divisional Creative Arts Director regularly to go over leadership development training throughout the summer.
- Follow all Keep Safe protocols.
- Uphold high morals as a Salvation Army employee and carry out The Salvation Army's mission.
- Assist with any other duties as assigned by the Divisional Music Director & Divisional Creative Arts Director.
- Proficiency in performing and teaching a music and/or creative arts discipline.
- Must work well with young people and be willing to care for children and teens.
- Uniformed Salvationist who participates in music or arts ensembles at the Corps and Divisional level.
- Must be 14 years of age or older.
