Maintenance Engineer; Temporary

Position: Maintenance Engineer (Temporary)
Location: Oldbury

Pertemps West Bromwich are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and reputable manufacturing business based in Oldbury. This is a hands-on role suited to a skilled mechanical engineer who can work independently and provide effective maintenance support across a busy industrial site.

Role Overview
You will be responsible for providing a safe, proactive and cost-effective mechanical maintenance service across the site, ensuring equipment runs efficiently and downtime is kept to a minimum.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out mechanical maintenance safely and in line with company standards.
Diagnose and repair faults on mechanical equipment.
Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively.
Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance.
Install and commission mechanical equipment.
Maintain and repair equipment including pumps, valves and gearboxes.
Support contractors working on site when required.
Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.

Skills and Experience Required

Mechanical qualification (Level 3 or equivalent) with completed apprenticeship.
Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Experience maintaining industrial or heavy plant equipment.
Ability to repair pumps, valves and gearboxes.
Pipe fitting and welding experience preferred.
Able to work independently and take ownership of maintenance tasks.
Working Hours & Pay
Monday to Thursday: 7:45am - 4:00pm, 15:30 finish on Friday (37 hours)

£17.97 per hour
