39 hours per week (Mon‑Thu 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Fri 7:30 am – 12:30 pm)

We are looking to recruit a Process / Welding Technician to support the Production Engineering team.
You will be instrumental in introducing new processes and conducting improvements on existing processes. We are a high‑volume, well established manufacturing business, and 2026 is looking to be a busy year for us! Commutable from Birmingham, Smethwick, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Aldridge, Wednesbury, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull, Moseley, Halesowen, Willenhall, Burntwood, Dudley, Kingswinford and Minworth.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and change over manual spot and projection welding machines
- Carry out jig, tooling, and program changes on robotic CO₂ and spot‑welding cells (Fanuc / Motoman)
- Troubleshoot breakdowns and technical issues to get production running quickly and safely
- Program new jobs using camera‑based poke‑yoke systems
- Support new product introductions, attending Gateway / project meetings as required
- Manufacture and repair welding fixtures using toolroom equipment
- Support Quality with 8D problem‑solving, operator audits, and checking fixtures
- Train and mentor apprentices within the Production Engineering team
- Actively drive Lean Manufacturing improvements, including layout, OEE, and production rate optimisation
- Experience in press work and welded assemblies
- Strong knowledge of CO₂ welding, spot & projection welding
- Experience programming or supporting robot welding cells (Fanuc / Motoman)
- Confident using toolroom equipment to modify or repair fixtures
- Lean Manufacturing mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
- NVQ or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering
- Forklift licence
- Abrasive Wheel certification
