Location:

West Bromwich

The role of a Manufacturing Technician is to safely and efficiently operate and optimise bakery plant and equipment, achieving high levels of targeted performance, customer satisfaction and quality standards within a culture of continuous improvement, development and learning.

Key Accountabilities
  • Deliver product quality through all available systems.
  • Contribute to optimisation of the production plan, operating the production plant in the most efficient and cost‑effective manner.
  • Identify and apply development and training needs for self and team, using learning logs and 1:1 communications.
  • Continuously challenge and improve manufacturing processes, encouraging others to do the same.
  • Actively participate in the optimisation of cross‑functional working processes and procedures to maintain or improve bakery infrastructure standards.
Additional Accountabilities

Employees are expected to exhibit a flexible, can‑do approach, and may be required to support other areas of the business, providing resource and expertise as needed while developing their own skill base and broader knowledge.

The Right Person Essential
  • Basic engineering competencies and mechanical empathy.
  • Computer literate – able to interact with HMI screens.
  • Good level of Health and Food Safety awareness.
  • Strong numerical, reading and information recording skills.
Advantageous
  • In‑depth understanding and application of food hygiene/GMP (ABSS standards).
  • Understanding of the baking process.
  • NVQ Level 1 or Level 2 in Performing Mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (CIEH Level 2), IOSH or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques (e Fishbone, 5 Why’s, 5 S).
  • Fault‑finding skills.
