Overview
As part of our continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for an SEN Teacher to join our Special School. Our School is successful and employs a range of dynamic teaching methods with innovative curriculum development and practices at the forefront of learning. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support students with moderate learning difficulties and additional needs, empowering them to thrive and ensuring they are prepared and supported for life beyond education.
You will design and deliver engaging lessons using creative and innovative teaching strategies that spark curiosity and enthusiasm in the classroom. Teaching at The Westminster School means you will have a well-resourced environment and the support of expert colleagues. You will monitor and assess students' progress, ensuring their personal development and wellbeing are nurtured alongside their educational achievements. We are seeking a passionate educator and skilled communicator who can connect meaningfully with pupils with diverse and complex needs and contribute to the school's vision and direction.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
About the SchoolThe Westminster School is a Special School in Rowley Regis, catering for 275 pupils aged 7 to 19 years with moderate learning disabilities plus additional needs. The school delivers an innovative child-centred curriculum focused around six holistic areas:
My Communication, My Community, My Care and Independence, My Creativity, My Thinking, My Wellbeing. The curriculum wraps around the young person to meet them at the point of need. Our work on supported internships and supported apprenticeships for students with learning disabilities is at the forefront of national developments. The school moved to a purpose-built site in February 2011 with ground floor classrooms that provide access to outside spaces and Learning Outside the Classroom opportunities.

- Design and deliver engaging, creative lessons for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and additional needs.
- Monitor, assess and report on students' progress; support their personal development and wellbeing alongside their educational achievements.
- Collaborate with expert colleagues and contribute to curriculum development and teaching practices.
- Maintain and promote safeguarding and pupil welfare as a priority.
- Engage with families, carers and the wider school community to support student outcomes.
- Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent) with experience or proven readiness to work with pupils who have SEND.
- Ability to connect meaningfully with pupils who have diverse and complex needs and to contribute to a positive school culture.
