General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience by greeting, assisting, and serving customers with courtesy and professionalism. The Associate follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and presents merchandise appropriately. All tasks are performed during business hours and may include additional duties as needed to meet customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Prioritise safety and practice safe behaviours in all activities.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment, keep egress clear, and immediately correct or report unsafe conditions.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy.
  • Assist customers at the register, with merchandise, and answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greet all customers and say “thank you” at each transaction.
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle issues courteously, involving store leadership when necessary.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
  • Adhere to the company dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandise per guidelines, and maintain brand familiarity.
  • Understand loss‑prevention programs such as Shortage Highway and Store Protection Specialist where applicable.
  • Demonstrate integrity, safeguarding confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise.
  • Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies, process disposed items, and notify store leadership for approval.
  • Follow all cash, check, charge‑card, and refund procedures, maintain accuracy with bankable tenders.
  • Work efficiently, executing store best practices and minimising steps in the workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations common in retail.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.
  • Spend 100 % of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Specific assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • For stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
