Operator in Packaging

• Setting up, operating, adjusting, cleaning and sanitizing equipment to package products within quality standards and according to procedures.
• Assisting others in the areas trained as required by production demands or by direction of the Supervisor.
• Preparing bags and labels for product fills according to work instructions.
• Verifying lots and batch numbers and dumping materials into blenders/hoppers.
• Stacking bags and boxes onto trolleys for storage in the freezer.
• Delivering or picking up raw materials or finished products into and out of a –55 °C freezer.
• Troubleshooting and identifying equipment failures or problems.
• Completing necessary paperwork and data entry for production and inventory records.
• Participating in continuous improvement activities using Lean concepts and principles.
• Taking necessary samples for QC testing as needed.
• Adhering to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, Safety, ISO and Standardized Work procedures.
• Adhering to guidelines for religious dietary law certifications (Kosher and Halal).

• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to the production process, including conversion of weight and volume in the metric system.
• Ability to read and follow a production journal to package finished goods.
• Ability to operate a pallet walker and/or forklift, preferred.
• Ability to use basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrench) for assembly and disassembly of equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers regarding the status of the production process.
• Basic computer skills. ERP system knowledge (SAP), preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED with production experience preferred.

Production unit with frequent wet, humid, dusty or loud conditions, moving machine parts, fumes or airborne particles and chemicals. Occasionally contact with extremely cold conditions (–55 °C). Company issued uniform and personal protective equipment required at all times. Work may occur in small rooms compliant to avoid interdepartmental contamination. 12‑hour workdays, 2‑2‑3 schedule.

Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 50 lbs., use hands to finger, handle objects, tools or controls and roll bags. Occasionally required to scoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and use foot/feet to operate machinery. Vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus required.
