Registered Nurse – ICU
We are seeking an ICU Registered Nurse (ICU RN), also referred to as an ICU RN, Intensive Care Nurse, or Intensive Care Unit RN. The ICU RN will be responsible for providing intensive care to patients with life‑threatening conditions. The ICU RN will have advanced skills in critical care settings, make quick decisions, and will be compassionate to all patients. An ICU RN monitors vital signs, blood oxygen levels, administers IV fluids, and communicates effectively to the medical team to modify care plans accordingly.

Knapp Medical Center, a member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, is a 227‑bed, award‑winning, not‑for‑profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas, specializing in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics/gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. It is the only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery serving the Mid‑Valley area.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU. Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to assigned patients;
communicates with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, abnormal results, and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
- Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Minimum of one year as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
- Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
