Phlebotomy Technician I

Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I to collect blood specimens, maintain equipment, record patient data, and support patient care. This is a per diem (PD/PRN) position.

Knapp Medical Center – Weslaco, TX

Responsibilities
  • Conduct skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens.
  • Perform computer data entry, filing, telephone communication, and other clerical duties.
  • Apply knowledge of laboratory test terminology.
  • Demonstrate proper phlebotomy technique and equipment use for all patient groups.
  • Process specimens for microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank.
  • Process or load specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation following established policies.
  • Assist in picking up samples at hospital/OR, sorting, inventory, replenishing supplies, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers, and work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by department manager/director.
    • Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Blue‑Line BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained.
    • Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience (preferred).
