Job DescriptionJob Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support electrical controls, automation systems, and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role will focus on troubleshooting electrical systems, designing and modifying control programs, and supporting plant operations through automation and control system improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and automation issues within manufacturing equipment.
- Design, develop, and modify electrical control circuits, PLC programs, and HMI applications.
- Support installation, testing, and startup of automation systems and equipment.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement projects related to electrical controls and automation systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to electricians, technicians, and maintenance teams.
- Design electrical wiring diagrams, control panels, and system schematics using engineering tools such as AutoCAD.
- Support preventative maintenance efforts and help diagnose equipment malfunctions.
- Supervise installation and commissioning activities performed by contractors or plant personnel.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and maintenance to resolve equipment and process issues.
- Ensure all work follows applicable safety standards and engineering practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2–4 years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation (or equivalent experience without a degree).
- Experience with PLC programming
, preferably within the Rockwell/Allen-Bradley environment. - Experience working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems.
- Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards and industrial automation systems.
- Experience with robotic automation systems.
- Experience with servo drives and motion control systems.
- Experience designing control systems using AutoCAD or similar engineering software
. - Prior experience supporting manufacturing or assembly operations.
- Onsite role within a high-volume manufacturing facility.
- Must be open to working different shifts based on production needs.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on operational requirements.
