ON-MOUNTAIN OUTPOST SERVER JOB SUMMARYThe On-Mountain Food & Beverage Outlet Server sells and serves food and beverages to guests at various outdoor outpost locations across the Mission Ridge mountain. This position requires proficiency in skiing or snowboarding, as servers must travel to assigned outpost locations—sometimes carrying food items or supplies—using intermediate (blue-level) terrain. Outposts may include fixed and mobile sites such as Midway, Bomber Cliffs, Chair 2 base, and the Taco Cat location, which moves throughout the mountain.
This hands‑on role combines food service, guest interaction, and cash handling in a fast‑paced, outdoor setting. The server ensures high-quality product delivery and exceptional guest service while maintaining a clean, stocked, and organized work environment. The ability to work under pressure with a consistently positive attitude is essential to success in this team‑driven role.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Cash Handling & Register Operation:
Operate a cash register during the assigned shift; manage a personal cash bank and process daily transactions accurately. - Daily Sales Reconciliation:
Reconcile receipts with system sales reports and complete a daily cash sales report. - Food Preparation & Service:
Prepare and serve menu items such as sandwiches and specialty foods; assist guests with menu selections. - Cooking Equipment Use:
Operate kitchen equipment including a convection oven, steam tables, and gas barbecue grills. - Cleaning & Bussing:
Maintain cleanliness of the outpost location, including bussing, restocking, and end‑of‑shift cleanup duties. - Inventory Management:
Complete full inventory counts for your assigned outpost location each Sunday. - Guest Interaction:
Deliver exceptional guest service in all interactions, ensuring a welcoming and efficient food service experience.
- Beverage Knowledge:
Understanding of regional beer and wine offerings for responsible service to guests. - Permits & Certification:
Must possess a valid Washington State Health District Food Server Permit and a Class 12 or 13 Server Permit. - Cash Handling & Organization:
Demonstrated ability to manage cash transactions, reconcile sales reports, and stay organized during high‑volume service. - Age Requirement:
Must be at least 21 years of age to sell alcohol and operate the cash register at designated outposts. - Skiing/Riding Proficiency:
Capable of skiing or snowboarding on blue‑level terrain while carrying a backpack or food items to reach remote outpost locations.
This position requires regular skiing or snowboarding with supplies across varying terrain, often while carrying a backpack or other materials. The role involves standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and working in outdoor winter conditions. Manual dexterity and clear communication are necessary for food service and guest interaction. Lifting of items up to 50 lbs may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment consists of several on-mountain outpost locations, which are fully outdoors and accessed only by skiing or riding. Locations include the base of Bomber Cliffs, the bottom of Chair 2, near the lodge, and the mobile Taco Cat unit. Exposure to cold weather, snow, wind, and variable mountain conditions is constant. Work may also occur around snowcats or snowmobiles.
Team members must be adaptable, safety‑minded, and able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, outdoor setting.

Hearing:
Regularly (67‑100%) – Must be able to hear well; guest service communication and employee communication are essential.
Standing/Walking:
Regularly (67‑100%) – Consistent and constant standing and walking while in operation.
Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling:
Regularly (67‑100%) – Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and crouch for extended periods.
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing:
Regularly (67‑100%) – Transporting food and beverage to and from Midway requires lifting of items up to 100 lb in and on a snowcat trailer; the trailer is loaded and unloaded twice a day.
Fingering/Grasping/Feeling:
Regularly (67‑100%) – Must be able to write, and use phone system.
