Employees (and their dependents) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life and disability insurance coverage, subject to applicable waiting periods. Employees are automatically enrolled in PCA's 401k retirement plan at the time of hire and are eligible for 11 holidays after completing 30 days worked. Reimbursement details include up to $150 for safety shoes after completing the introductory period and up to $35 per month for monthly fitness memberships.
Annual gainshare can be up to 10 percent of earnings.
The Mechanical Packaging Technician is responsible for building, maintaining and repairing packaging machines, such as tray pack HSCs and DRCs. This position will service PCA's customers in the Wenatchee and surrounding areas as needed, along with three other technicians. A company vehicle for service calls and a cellphone will be provided, together with a competitive compensation and benefits package. The hourly rate for this position is $25 - $34 depending on qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform a variety of tasks to design, manufacture, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and replace mechanical and electrical components on packaging equipment at our facility and customer locations nationwide.
- Work as part of a team in a manufacturing/production environment to increase productivity, reduce downtime and waste.
- Follow all company safety rules and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Work with a sense of urgency to reduce client downtime.
- Develop a close relationship with customers to aid in becoming a preferred supplier.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- One year of steady work history in a maintenance role and/or technical certification.
- Passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to work on call, weekends and overtime as required.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
- Proper general maintenance and troubleshooting practices.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
- Good interpersonal, planning and organizing skills, ability to work independently, and a high degree of self-motivation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tables, charts, etc.
- Ability to read technical service literature and accurately follow instructions provided.
- Willingness to pursue ongoing technical training to enhance capabilities.
- Must be able to travel occasionally within the USA and Canada.
- 2 to 5 years of practical application experience in mechanical, electrical and pneumatic maintenance functions.
- 2+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery or a related technical degree.
- Bilingual:
English and Spanish
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to acquire and/or retain a multi-craft skill set (mechanic, electrician and machinist) via on-the-job training or institutional learning.
- Willingness to share ideas with others to solve important problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with coworkers and customers.
- Ability to work alone and in a team environment.
- Willingness and ability to work in environments with varying temperatures.
- Capable of recognizing sounds of moving equipment for safety purposes and identifying machine issues.
