SummaryEfficiently and accurately, schedule surgery cases for the Ophthalmology physicians at both Central Washington Hospital and Wenatchee Valley Hospital & Surgical Center.
Position
Reports To:
Practice Manager
Directly interact with the OR scheduler at CH to schedule surgery appointments and hospital admissions.
Ensures and/or obtain prior authorizations as needed as well as obtaining appropriate referrals prior to surgery.
Conduct end of appointment interviews to assure that all appointments needed in conjunction with having s pre-operative clearing, ACC orders are made, etc., as directed by the physician.
Cancel and reschedule appointments, when necessary, in EMR.
Monitor all surgical cases booked to meet the needs of the patient and staff. If needed, works with outside implants and any supplies needed are ordered.
Obtains proper ICD-10 and CPT codes for the surgery center to assure proper billing.
Coordinate pre and post appointments as well as necessary patient preparations.
Prepare all paperwork in a timely fashion and present to physician for signature; fax/scan to appropriate surgery center when completed.
Coordinate dual cases with the appropriate provider’s office.
Effectively communicate all schedule changes to the appropriate personnel, working to ensure efficient utilize and physician schedules.
Consistently monitor schedules to ensure any canceled patients are followed up with and other patients are contacted to fill the voids.
Exhibit excellent customer service skills.
Use telephones, FAX machines, computers, printers and copiers.
Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Demonstrate standards of behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
QualificationsRequired:
- High School or GED.
- Ability to relate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and staff and to function as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to speak to others with a pleasant phone manner.
Desired:
- Medical terminology course.
- Previous experience in a medical or related type of facility or office.
- Prior computer experience.
O = Occasional, represents 1 to 25% or up to 30 minutes in a 2 hour workday.
F = Frequent, represents 26 to 50% or up to 1 hour of a 2 hour workday.
C = Continuous, represents 51% to 100% or up to 2 hours of a 2 hour workday.
