What will you be doing
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Azure Apprentice to join our team. This apprenticeship is designed to provide hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure, helping you build a strong foundation in cloud computing, networking, security, and Dev Ops. Working alongside experienced cloud engineers, gaining real-world experience in managing and optimizing Azure environments.
You will be responsible for ensuring seamless integration of new technologies, supporting Dev Ops practices to enhance deployment pipelines, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. You will also play a critical role in monitoring system health, conducting performance tuning, and supporting business continuity planning.
Be responsible for and deliver:
- Assist in deploying, managing, and monitoring Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage, and networking.
- Support Azure security configurations, compliance, and best practices.
- Learn to automate cloud operations using Power Shell, Azure CLI, Terraform and Python.
- Help troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues.
- Work with Entra identity and access management.
- Assist in implementing backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions.
- Participate in cloud migration projects and infrastructure optimizations.
- Collaborate with senior cloud engineers to learn industry best practices.
- Document processes and solutions to support future implementations.
- A keen interest in cloud computing and IT infrastructure.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud is a plus).
- Understanding of networking, virtualization, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Power Shell, Python, or Bash is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Any relevant IT certification (e.g., Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)).
- Previous experience with IT support or cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of Dev Ops tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes.
- Hands-on training with Azure technologies.
- Mentorship from experienced cloud professionals.
- Opportunity to work on real-world projects.
- Support for obtaining Microsoft Azure certifications.
- Career progression into cloud engineering or Dev Ops roles.
The majority of this role will be remote (Hybrid) but will require some travel to our bright and modern offices in Welwyn Garden City.
